Breast Augmentation has gained a lot of popularity over the years as a great option for women looking to have a fuller and more desirable breast size. This procedure is known to positively improve women’s self-confidence and self-esteem. This is why breast augmentation is the most common aesthetic procedure performed by Dr Turner.
Dr Turner uses modern silicone implants as they are a safer, more reliable and natural option compared to saline implants.
As this is an invasive surgical procedure, breast augmentation is performed under a general anaesthetic at all times in a fully accredited hospital with the assistance of a qualified anaesthetist.
The procedure will take between one to two hours and in most cases, you are discharged the same day with no overnight stay required.
To perform breast augmentation a small incision is required to allow for opening the pocket where the implant is then placed. Dr Turner prefers to use an inframammary fold incision under the breast as it provides optimal exposure to the underlying breast tissue and pectoralis muscle to allow accurate placement of the implant. At the patient’s discretion Dr Turner can use The Keller Funnel 2 to minimize infection which can lead to capsular contracture.
Dr Turner recommends that patients who undergo breast augmentation rest for at least 7-10days following the procedure. During this time, activity should be kept to a minimum. Patients can return to work after 7 days and expect a full recovery within 6-8 weeks although this differs for each individual.
