Facelift Before and After Photos Bondi Junction & Manly, Sydney

BA_facelift-img

Dr Scott J Turner — Specialist Plastic Surgeon, FRACS

The photos shown on this page are from real patients who have undergone facelift surgery with Dr Scott J Turner at his Sydney clinics in Bondi Junction and Manly. All images are unaltered and taken under consistent photographic conditions.

A note on the size of this gallery: facelift patients are identifiable in a way that breast or body surgery patients are not. For that reason, many of Dr Turner's facelift patients prefer that their photographs remain private. Out of respect for that, only a small number of consenting patients are represented publicly here. Dr Turner maintains a considerably more extensive collection of facelift photography that is available to view privately during a consultation. If you would like to see a wider range of cases — including specific facelift techniques, age groups, or degrees of facial change — please mention this when booking and the team will ensure appropriate cases are ready for your appointment.

What This Gallery Shows

The cases shown represent a range of facelift approaches performed by Dr Turner, including:

  • SMAS facelift — the standard deep surgical approach addressing the underlying facial support structure
  • Deep plane facelift — a more comprehensive technique that releases deeper ligamentous attachments for patients with more significant facial descent
  • Vertical facelift — addresses descent through a vertical vector, suited to patients with specific anatomical characteristics
  • Short-scar facelift — for patients with earlier-stage facial change where a more limited approach is appropriate
  • Combined procedures including neck lift and blepharoplasty

Technique selection depends on each patient’s facial anatomy, degree and pattern of facial change, skin quality, and what they are hoping to address. This is determined through a detailed consultation assessment — not from photos.

About Facelift Surgery

A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure that addresses structural changes in the face and neck associated with ageing, weight fluctuation, or other changes over time. It works at the level of the SMAS — the deeper muscular and fascial layer beneath the skin — rather than simply tightening skin at the surface.

Different facelift techniques vary in how deeply they work and which anatomical structures they address. The choice between a short-scar approach, an SMAS-based technique, or a deep plane approach depends on the individual’s anatomy and the degree of change present. Dr Turner will explain the reasoning behind his recommended approach during consultation.

All facelift surgery is performed under general anaesthesia at an accredited private hospital in Sydney — at Bondi Junction Private Hospital for Eastern Suburbs patients, and Delmar Private Hospital (Dee Why) for Manly patients.

Seeing More Photos — At Consultation

Given the sensitivity around facial photography, the consultation is the most appropriate place to view a wider range of results. During your appointment, Dr Turner can show you:

  • Cases matching your approximate age group and starting point
  • Results from the specific technique he is recommending for your anatomy
  • Combined procedure results if more than one area is being considered
  • Longer-term follow-up images where available

This approach also allows for a more informed discussion — you can ask questions about individual cases, understand why certain techniques were used, and develop a realistic picture of what may be achievable in your specific circumstances.

To request that a broader range of photos be available at your consultation, simply mention this at the time of booking.

Understanding the Timeline of Results

After photos in this gallery are taken at three months or later, when the majority of swelling has resolved. Facelift results continue to mature beyond this point — most patients see further improvement at six months, and the final settled appearance typically develops over the first year.

General healing milestones:

  • 1–2 weeks: Swelling and bruising peak in the first 2–3 days, then begin to resolve; most patients are comfortable in social settings by two weeks
  • 4–6 weeks: The majority of visible swelling has resolved; patients return to most normal activity including moderate exercise
  • 3 months: Swelling largely settled; results clearly visible; scars still pink and maturing
  • 6–12 months: Final result developing; scars continuing to fade; tissue fully settled

Scar placement in facelift surgery is designed to sit within natural anatomical boundaries — in front of and behind the ears, along the hairline and within natural creases. In most patients, scars fade well over twelve to eighteen months, though individual healing varies and is discussed at consultation.

Sydney Consultations — Bondi Junction and Manly

Dr Turner consults at two Sydney locations:

Bondi Junction — Eastern Suburbs. Surgery at Bondi Junction Private Hospital. Manly — Suite 504, Level 5, 39 East Esplanade, Manly NSW 2095. Surgery at Delmar Private Hospital, Dee Why.

Patients also consult from Brisbane, Canberra, Newcastle, and the Gold Coast. All surgery is performed in Sydney.

The Consultation Process

A GP referral is required before your first consultation with Dr Turner. Under AHPRA regulations that govern cosmetic surgery in Australia, the process for facelift surgery involves a minimum of two consultations, a psychological evaluation, and a mandatory cooling-off period before surgery can proceed.

During the initial consultation, Dr Turner will:

  • Assess your facial anatomy, skin quality, and the pattern and degree of facial change
  • Discuss the techniques most suited to your individual anatomy
  • Explain the expected recovery process, realistic outcomes, and relevant risks and complications in full
  • Show you a broader range of before and after photography if requested

Facelift surgery is a significant procedure and the consultation is designed to give you the time and information to make a considered decision. There is no obligation to proceed at the end of a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are there only a few facelift photos publicly available?

Facelift patients are identifiable in a way that patients having body surgery are not. Many patients who are happy with their results prefer that their photographs remain private. Out of respect for this, only cases where patients have given explicit consent for public use are shown here. Dr Turner maintains a more extensive collection that can be viewed privately during a consultation — please ask at the time of booking if you would like to see a broader range.

Can I see more facelift photos that match my age group or concern?

Yes. This is best done at consultation, where Dr Turner can pull cases relevant to your starting point, the technique he is recommending, and the degree of facial change you are hoping to address. If you have specific requests — for example, cases involving neck surgery, eyelid surgery, or a particular technique — mention this when booking so the team can prepare accordingly.

What facelift techniques does Dr Turner perform?

Dr Turner performs a range of facelift approaches including SMAS facelift, deep plane facelift, vertical facelift, and short-scar (limited incision) facelift. The right technique depends on individual anatomy, the degree and distribution of facial change, skin quality, and patient goals. Dr Turner will explain his assessment and recommended approach during consultation.

How long do facelift results last?

Results vary by individual and depend on factors including the technique used, skin quality, lifestyle, and the natural ageing process continuing post-surgery. Generally, surgical facelift results tend to last longer than non-surgical alternatives because they address the underlying anatomical structures. The rate at which the face continues to age after surgery is individual. This is discussed in detail at consultation.

What regulatory steps are required before facelift surgery in Australia?

A GP referral is required to book your first consultation. Under current AHPRA regulations, facelift surgery requires a minimum of two consultations with Dr Turner, a psychological evaluation, and a mandatory cooling-off period before surgery can be scheduled. Dr Turner consults from Bondi Junction and Manly in Sydney.
