Our Clinics Sydney, Brisbane & Canberra

Dr Scott J Turner — Specialist Plastic Surgeon, FRACS

The practice runs four clinics across three cities. Sydney is the surgical home. Bondi Junction and Manly are the two Sydney consulting rooms, and surgery is performed at accredited private hospitals near each. Brisbane and Canberra are consulting locations only. If you see me at either, your surgery still happens in Sydney.

That's a deliberate choice, not a logistical workaround. Brisbane and Canberra exist so you don't need to fly to Sydney just for the initial conversations. Surgery itself stays in Sydney because the entire surgical team stays consistent there. The hospitals I know. The anaesthetists I trust. The recovery facilities I've worked with for years. That continuity matters more than operating closer to where you live.

Sydney, The Surgical Home of the Practice

Sydney is where the practice is based and where all surgery is performed. I consult at two locations within Sydney: Bondi Junction in the Eastern Suburbs, and Manly on the Northern Beaches. Both clinics run the same consultation process and the same standards of care. Most patients choose the room closest to where they live or work.

Bondi Junction Clinic, Eastern Suburbs

The Bondi Junction clinic serves patients from across Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and the inner south, plus the CBD. The consulting suite offers private rooms for face, nose, breast, and body consultations. Surgery is performed at Bondi Junction Private Hospital, located minutes from the consulting rooms. Consultations run on Thursdays appointment.

Manly Clinic, Northern Beaches

The Manly clinic serves patients from across the Northern Beaches and the North Shore, including the lower north of Sydney. Surgery is performed at Delmar Private Hospital in Manly. The Manly clinic also houses the Xen LED photobiomodulation system, which is used as part of post-operative recovery for facelift patients and is available for standalone sessions by appointment. Consultations run on Tuesdays by appointment.

Brisbane Consulting Clinic, Spring Hill

I consult at Herstellen Clinic in Spring Hill in partnership with Dr Justin Perron. The Brisbane clinic is for consultations only. All surgery is performed at accredited private hospitals in Sydney. The consulting space is purpose-built and sits within Brisbane’s medical precinct, with major hospitals close by.

This location serves patients across Greater Brisbane and regional Queensland, plus Northern New South Wales, who’d prefer a face-to-face consultation closer to home before committing to the Sydney travel pathway.

How Surgery Works When You Consult Outside Sydney

If you consult in Brisbane or Canberra, the practical pathway is straightforward but worth understanding upfront:

  1. Your initial consultation happens at the Brisbane or Canberra clinic
  2. Your second consultation can also happen at Brisbane or Canberra, or in Sydney
  3. Final pre-operative review takes place in Sydney, typically one to two days before surgery
  4. Surgery is performed at an accredited Sydney private hospital
  5. Initial post-operative follow-up happens in Sydney before you travel home
  6. Ongoing follow-up runs by telehealth, with in-person review at any of the four clinic locations as needed

Most interstate patients stay in Sydney for five to ten days depending on the procedure. Accommodation, support person requirements, and the full interstate pathway are covered in detail on the Out-of-Town Patients page.

Your Consultation Process

Cosmetic surgery in Australia is regulated by AHPRA under guidelines updated in 2023 and revised again in September 2025. Several requirements apply regardless of which clinic you attend:

  • A GP referral is required before any cosmetic surgery consultation can be booked. Your GP provides a written referral after a clinical discussion about your reasons for considering surgery.
  • A minimum of two consultations is required before any cosmetic procedure can be booked. This is a regulatory requirement, not a practice preference.
  • A seven-day cooling-off period applies between final written consent and the procedure date.
  • Psychological evaluation may be required where clinically indicated.

Each consultation runs 45 to 60 minutes. There’s no mechanism to compress the timeline from first consultation to surgery, which typically takes six to twelve weeks. The intervals are regulatory, not commercial.

For a fuller walkthrough of what happens at the first appointment, see the First Consultation page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is surgery performed if I consult in Brisbane or Canberra?

All surgery is performed at accredited private hospitals in Sydney. Brisbane and Canberra are consulting locations only. The decision to centralise surgery in Sydney is deliberate. It allows the practice to maintain consistent surgical standards across hospitals, anaesthetists, and post-operative facilities that I personally know and trust.

Do I need a GP referral for my first consultation?

Yes. Since 1 July 2023, AHPRA requires all patients seeking a cosmetic surgery consultation in Australia to have a written GP referral. The referral process gives your GP the opportunity to review your reasons for considering surgery and discuss any health considerations. A referral does not commit you to surgery. It only allows the consultation to be booked.

Can I have all my consultations at the Brisbane or Canberra clinic?

The first consultation can certainly happen at Brisbane or Canberra. The second consultation also can. Some patients prefer to do their final pre-operative review in Sydney one to two days before surgery, which doubles as a logistical familiarisation visit. The right pathway is discussed during your first appointment based on your circumstances.

How long is each consultation?

Each consultation runs 45 to 60 minutes. The first appointment covers your goals, medical history, physical assessment, surgical options, risks and recovery expectations, and indicative costs. The second consultation revisits the surgical plan after you’ve had time to consider the information and ask follow-up questions.

Is parking available at the Sydney clinics?

Both Sydney clinics have nearby parking options, although neither has dedicated patient parking on-site. Westfield Bondi Junction (around five minutes’ walk) and Whistler Street car park in Manly (around three minutes’ walk) are the most reliable. Public transport to both clinics is straightforward.
