Northern Beaches consultations
Consultations are by appointment at the Northern Beaches rooms, and patients come from across the Northern Beaches, from Manly to Palm Beach. Dr Turner consults at the rooms on Tuesdays, and the rooms are staffed Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, for bookings and enquiries.
At the first consultation, Dr Turner takes a medical history, assesses the area you would like to discuss, explains the options that may be appropriate, including non-surgical options or no treatment, and discusses what surgery can and cannot achieve. There is no obligation to proceed.
The first consultation may be held by video. The second pre-operative consultation is held in person at the rooms. After surgery, follow-up appointments usually take place at the Northern Beaches rooms, and telehealth review may be available for some check-ins during recovery.
Dr Scott J Turner, Specialist Plastic Surgeon
Dr Scott J Turner (MED0001654827) is a registered medical practitioner and specialist plastic surgeon (specialist registration in Surgery – plastic surgery). He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, awarded in 2013, and holds a Master of Surgery in Plastic Surgery and a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honours (MBBS Hons) from the University of Sydney.

Face and neck surgery
Facelift and neck lift surgery lifts and repositions the tissues of the face and neck and removes excess skin. Dr Turner performs several facelift techniques, including the deep plane facelift, and the technique is chosen at consultation according to each person’s anatomy. Neck surgery is often planned at the same time. These are significant operations performed under general anaesthesia, usually with an overnight stay, and recovery differs from person to person.
Eyelid and brow surgery
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty, sometimes called an eyelid lift) removes or repositions excess skin and fat of the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids or both. A brow lift repositions the brow and forehead tissues and is often considered alongside upper eyelid surgery. Whether either procedure is appropriate is assessed at consultation. Swelling and bruising are expected afterwards, and the time they take to settle varies between individuals.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty (nose surgery) alters the structure of the nose, for appearance, for breathing, or both. Where the nasal septum obstructs breathing, a septoplasty may be performed in the same operation, which is called a septorhinoplasty. Assessment covers nasal anatomy, skin thickness and breathing, and what surgery can and cannot change is discussed at consultation. Swelling after rhinoplasty settles gradually, and the final shape of the nose can take many months to become apparent.
Breast surgery
Breast procedures discussed at the Northern Beaches rooms include:
- Breast augmentation (breast enlargement), using implants, or fat transfer in selected cases, to change breast size and shape
- Breast lift (mastopexy), which repositions the breast tissue and nipple and removes excess skin, with or without implants
- Breast reduction (reduction mammaplasty), which removes breast tissue and skin to reduce breast size and weight; a Medicare item may apply where clinical criteria are met
- Breast implant revision, including implant removal, considered for implant age, capsular contracture, implant position or a change in goals

Surgery at Delmar Private Hospital, Dee Why
Surgery for Northern Beaches patients is performed at Delmar Private Hospital, 58 Quirk Street, Dee Why NSW 2099, an accredited private hospital. Most procedures are performed under general anaesthesia with a specialist anaesthetist. Many involve an overnight stay, with post-operative reviews commonly at around day 3 and day 7; the schedule for each procedure is confirmed before surgery.
Referral and consultation requirements
- A referral from a registered medical practitioner, such as your GP, is required before your first consultation.
- Two pre-operative consultations are required before cosmetic surgery. The first may be by video; the second is in person.
- A seven-day cooling-off period applies before surgery can be booked or a deposit paid.
- Assessment includes screening for underlying psychological conditions, such as body dysmorphic disorder, using a validated tool, as the Medical Board of Australia’s guidelines require. Further assessment may be recommended where indicated.

Park on level 2 of the Dee Why Grand car park, which has entries on Pacific Parade and Sturdee Parade, and take the commercial lift to level 2. B-Line buses and route 199 stop at Dee Why on Pittwater Road, about a five-minute walk away.
