I Got a Nose Job- Here’s What It Was Like
Nose jobs, also known as rhinoplasty, are probably a lot more popular than you realise. In fact, it’s one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in Sydney and it can totally transform your face in a matter of hours.
Far too many people spend a lifetime hating the sight of their own face because of a minor issue with their nose. Why live with a needless insecurity? Modern plastic surgery is easier and safer than ever before.
Been thinking about getting a nose job? Here’s everything you need to get started on the journey to transformation.
What Is Rhinoplasty?
A nose job is a highly customisable procedure. Your doctor will create a unique treatment plan with your needs and wishes in mind. When it comes to planning, I’d recommend not going in with an exact nose in mind. While it can be great to show your doctor some celebrity noses that you like, it’s much more important to have a result that is 100% suited to your exact face shape.
Whether it’s nasal asymmetry, humps, or depressions in your nose, rhinoplasty can fix it. You can increase or decrease the size of your nose or even resolve breathing issues with a nose job.
While it is a very common procedure, rhinoplasty is actually considered to be one of the most difficult types of plastic surgery. It’s a very intricate job and one small mistake can seriously alter your appearance. That is why it is absolutely essential to get a highly experienced plastic surgeon who is an expert in rhinoplasty.
During your consultation, you’ll get crystal clear picture of what to expect from a nose job. The doctor will explain each aspect of the procedure and recovery. Best of all, thanks to 3D imaging technology, you can get a close-up view of what your potential new nose would look like on your face.
Recovering After a Nose Job
Everyone has a slightly different rhinoplasty experience so you’ll want to listen to your doctor’s recommendations for your exact procedure.
Generally speaking, though, you can expect to wake up with a small splint on your nose. This will be in place for up to two weeks to ensure that your nose heals perfectly. Within the splint, you’ll also have a couple of tiny splints in your nostrils that you’ll have to keep in place for a week. Basically, this is all to say that you’ll want to plan on being home for about two weeks during the healing process.
People often ask me if nose jobs hurt. Fortunately, the answer is no. Nose jobs are pretty painless. The doctor will give you a pain relief pill for the first couple of days and then over-the-counter medicine will be more than enough to deal with any discomfort.
Another surprising thing about nose jobs is that it takes a while to see the results. The swelling slowly goes down over time and your new nose gradually takes its shape over the course of several months.
